Black Leg Brewery

McKenzie, USA · Est. 2018

From the record

What we have established

A working-ranch brewery: as of 2018 the rear of Black Leg Ranch's Copper Jewell event barn became home to Black Leg Brewery, running a fully automated 15-barrel / 30-keg system on locally grown and malted barley and water from the ranch's own 230-foot well. OWNER IDENTITY IS A LIVE SOURCE CONFLICT AND IS NOT RESOLVED HERE. A 2025 Burleigh County licence application names Jay Dunn as 100% owner of Black Leg Brewery LLC; a North Dakota Secretary-of-State-derived business record names Jay Doan as the LLC's registered agent, and North Dakota Department of Agriculture records name Jay Doan as the brewery contact. A clerical or transcription error is plausible but is not established, so Dunn is NOT silently converted to Doan - the conflict itself is part of the record. Black Leg Brewery LLC incorporated 24 January 2018 per Secretary-of-State-derived evidence. Beneficial ownership is therefore UNKNOWN pending the original filing or the signed 2018 county application. Black Leg Ranch hosts and developed the brewery; that relationship is distinct from the legal-company ownership question and no ownership conclusion is drawn from ranch branding. A later partnership licensed Bison Light and Bison Bock with North Dakota State University. Source: Black Leg Ranch first-party, Burleigh County licensing, ND Secretary of State and ND Department of Agriculture, per North Dakota Passes 23-24.
