Tally's Beer UniverseThe Brewery Archive

Free to read, expensive to build

Support the Archive

9,198 breweries in 156 countries, 24,519 beers, 1,617 dated ownership events, 3,185 medals — every claim graded, most of it cited to a source you can follow, none of it behind a paywall and none of it for sale to the breweries it describes. That is the whole point, and it is also why it needs help.

What the money does

  • Research passes. Each region is researched as a master workbook — breweries, beers, owners, sites, suppliers, closures — then checked against sources before a record goes public. The campaign funds the hours that produce them.
  • Keeping it live. Hosting, builds and the daily source watch that re-checks the 20,000+ cited URLs so a dead link becomes a research task instead of a silent lie.
  • The record that outlives us. The export is a folder that can be zipped and deposited with an archive or a university. Funding keeps it depositable — no database login, no commercial state, no contact data.

What it never does: buy a better entry. The editorial policy is that no brewery, company or donor can pay to rewrite history, and the open questions stay published until evidence closes them.

Other ways to help

Send a correction, a closure date, a photograph or a memory through the tray — a verified tip improves a record the same day. Pick something up from the store. Or simply send a brewery page to someone who would care that it exists.
