Privacy

Nothing that identifies you. There is no sign-in, no profile and no advertising on this site. Reading a brewery page leaves no record attached to you.

The site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs including IP addresses for security and abuse prevention. We do not read them and cannot connect them to a person.

The passport app at tallysbeer.com stores your stamps, dates, ratings, notes and streaks in your browser's local storage. That means it stays on your device and is never sent to us. We could not tell you what you have been drinking if you asked us to.

The practical consequences are worth knowing: your passport does not follow you to another phone, and clearing your browser data erases it. We cannot restore it, because we never had it.

If you enter your email address, it goes to Kit (formerly ConvertKit), a company in the United States, which sends the mail on our behalf. They hold your address and whether you opened something. We use it to send you things about beer.

You can leave at any time using the unsubscribe link on every email, and we will delete your address on request. We do not sell, rent or share the list.

Links to the shop carry a tag identifying which page sent you, so we can tell what people find useful. It identifies the page, not the person.

Brewery websites, Etsy, YouTube and anywhere else we link to have their own privacy practices and their own trackers. Once you leave this site you are subject to theirs, not ours.

The archive sets no cookies. The passport uses local storage, which is not a cookie and is not sent to any server — it simply keeps your stamps between visits.

We count page views using Vercel Analytics. It is cookieless, builds no profile of you and cannot follow you to other sites. It tells us that a page was read, not who read it.

Nothing on this site sends your reading to an AI service. The archive is a static set of records; browsing it calls nobody.

The passport app is different in two specific places. If you ask it to add a beer we do not have, or to explore a country, the details you typed are sent to Anthropic in the United States, which writes the description that comes back. Nothing is stored, and every other part of the app works without touching those two features.

Under Canadian privacy law you can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, and ask for it to be deleted. For most people the answer to the first question is “an email address, if you gave us one”.

The honest reason this page is short is that the site does very little. If that changes — in particular if the passport ever syncs your stamps to a server so we can tell you when a brewery you drank changes hands — this page gets updated before that ships, not after.
