What the archive can vouch for
Archive badges
Every badge here states something the archive knows from its own records. There is no B-Corp seal and no local-grain seal, because there is no field behind either — those would be somebody else's finding about a third party. A seal that outruns its evidence makes the rest worth less.
- Verified Independence493 breweries
Independent ownership confirmed against a source on a specific date, not merely assumed from the absence of a recorded parent company. Most independent breweries in the archive have not been through this check yet.
- Local Harvest7 breweries
Grain grown on the brewery's own land, or grown and malted within its region, as recorded on the brewery's entry. Estate means they grow it; regional means it is grown nearby but not by them.
- Hound Welcome24 breweries
The taproom admits dogs, inside or on the patio. Recorded because almost nobody else records it, and because Pixie insists.
- Tours19 breweries
The brewery runs tours or is otherwise open to visitors.
- Dry Goods12 breweries
Makes at least one alcohol-free beer, confirmed against the brewery's own range. Absent means nobody has checked — not that the brewery makes none.
- Decorated225 breweries
Holds at least one competition award recorded in the archive, with the awarding body named.
Coverage is thin by design rather than by neglect: a badge appears only where the record supports it, so an absent badge means unrecorded, not untrue.
