Tally's Beer UniverseThe Brewery Archive

Plain terms

Terms of Use

Read the archive, quote it, link to it, build on the API. We try hard to be right and we will not always be. If we have something wrong about your brewery, tell us and we will fix it.

Using the archive

You may read, quote and link to anything here. If you use a fact from the archive in something you publish, a credit and a link is appreciated and not required.

The public API is free and open, with no key and no rate limit. If you build something on it, we would like to know, mostly out of curiosity.

What you may not do is scrape the whole thing and republish it as your own directory. The records are ours; the underlying facts belong to nobody.

What we promise about accuracy

The archive is a research project, not a register of record. We source what we can, date what we verify, and say plainly when something is unconfirmed. It is still assembled by people and it will contain mistakes.

Ownership changes, breweries close and reopen, and a page that was right last year may be wrong today. Do not make a commercial, financial or legal decision on the strength of what you read here without checking it yourself.

The archive is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, and we are not liable for losses arising from relying on it.

If we are wrong about your brewery

This matters more to us than the rest of this page. If the archive says something inaccurate about your business — the wrong owner, a closure that never happened, a beer you stopped making — write to info@tallysbeer.com and we will correct it.

We will not charge you for a correction, we will not ask you to advertise, and a correction is never contingent on anything. We keep a record of what changed and when, because an archive that quietly rewrites itself is worth less than one that shows its working.

Breweries that have closed

We keep closed breweries on the record rather than deleting them. Every other directory removes a brewery the day it stops trading, which is exactly why a closure becomes impossible to research a year later.

A closed entry is a historical record and is labelled as one. If a brewery reopens, that is good news and we will say so — tell us.

Other people's names and marks

Brewery names, logos and trade marks belong to their owners. They appear here to identify and describe real businesses, which is what an archive is for, and their use here implies no endorsement in either direction.

Links and the shop

Links to other sites are provided because they are useful. We do not control them and are not responsible for what they contain.

Some links to the shop are tagged so we can see which page sent someone. Anything we sell is sold on that platform under its terms, not ours.

Changes, and where we are

These terms may change. Material changes will be dated on this page rather than applied quietly.

Tally's Beer Universe is run from Alberta, Canada, and these terms are governed by the laws of Alberta.

Drink responsibly

This site is about beer and is meant for people old enough to drink it where they live. Nothing here is health advice.
