The People
Behind the beer
Notarially based reconstruction identifies Jacques Ephrem Dupuis as master brewer and brewery proprietor in 1888; Lovell 1890–91 independently lists J.E. Dupuis as Brasserie de Joliette proprietor. His widow sold the brewery assets/licence in May 1892.
Notarially based reconstruction names Joseph Roy and Joseph Mireault as brewer co-purchasers in May 1892; their Roy & Mireault brewing partnership dissolved 19 May 1893 when Mireault sold to Roy. An earlier municipal summary expanded him as Joseph-Agnus Roy; that name expansion is retained as a source conflict, not treated as resolved identity.
Hired by master brewer Jacques-Éphrem Dupuis in 1888 to learn beer-making methods; co-purchased the brewery with Joseph Roy in May 1892; co-founded Roy & Mireault in July 1892; sold to Roy in May 1893; a 1900 commercial guide later names Mireault proprietor again and a 1904 lease calls him a Joliette brewer.
