What we have established
Type: Gottlieb Häussler converted an Oberstrass barn to a brewery in 1836. The brewery passed through Franz Hoen, Valentin Gäbhard and Heinrich Koller-Forster; Koller leased it in 1859 to Gottlieb Seiler and Fritz Forrer, who bought it in 1862 as Seiler & Forrer. Gottlieb Seiler later became sole owner, his son Gottlieb Ernst Seiler took over in 1889, sold the brewery to Canton Zürich in 1900, briefly leased it back, and brewing ended completely in 1903. Status: CLOSED — Brewing finally ended 1903. HÄUSSLER → HOEN → GÄBHARD → Koller-forster → SEILER & FORRER → Seiler family → CANTON ZÜRICH Maltings ceased in 1890; parts of the plant had been electrified. Brewery building was demolished in 1912 for later ETH development.
