Timeline

  1. 1859
    The Spring Brewery before Burton

The brewery Burton took over "had been founded in 1859 by M.H. Taylor, of Cookshire, and Henry Philips of Montreal" on the west side of the St. Francis River; Charles H. Fletcher bought it in 1871 (ETRC, The Echenberg Collection). The archive has no record of the Spring Brewery, Sherbrooke, under its own name.

  2. 1887
Fletcher sells to the Burton Brewing Co.

"Fletcher sold Spring Brewery in 1887 to Burton Brewing Co." — a different lineage from Wiggett Bros. (wiggett-bros-brewing-co, TB-FFCJ8R09), whose plant went to Long and Hopkins of Collingwood in 1886. Burton's end, and any link to Silver Spring (1896) or National Breweries (1909): UNKNOWN.
