From the record

What we have established

Address: 64 Bow Street. Established around 1870 and the smallest of Portsmouth's three major late-19th-century breweries. George Scott bought a $500 share in 1876 and was vice president by 1890. The 1878/79 national brewing survey recorded 15,634 and 15,147 barrels sold respectively. A 1905 Portsmouth directory lists Arthur Harris as president and W. F. Harrington as treasurer and advertises multiple ales, stout and Portsburger Lager Beer. The company disappeared with the Prohibition era; no post-Repeal revival is verified in this pass.
