William Baulston Public Brewery / Brewhouse

Portsmouth, USA

From the record

What we have established

Communal/town-authorized house of entertainment and brewing operation under William Baulston. Exact physical footprint is not surveyed, but local historical work places the tavern opposite Town Pond in the original Portsmouth settlement. The operation is evidenced in 1638 and again by inn/beer authorization in 1647. Correct locality is Portsmouth/Pocasset, not Providence. Descriptive archive name; no period corporate trade name asserted.
