Alturas Brewery
Alturas, California, USA
Tally's Take
Why this matters
California Pass 187. Primary 1906 Alturas Plaindealer advertising identifies Alturas Brewery under Joe Dannhauser and offers beer by the glass, bottle and keg. A March 1901 Alturas New Era item documents the first beer from a new brewery in Alturas. The master already correctly preserves Joseph Dannhauser Brewery and Alturas Brewery & Soda Works as aliases/phases of this canonical Alturas Brewery entity. Specialist indexing suggests later John Perry Bowers and William F. Werner phases through about 1915, but Pass 79 removes 1915 from the exact closure field because primary closure evidence has not yet been recovered.
