California Pass 187. Primary Placer County newspaper advertising directly identifies Auburn Brewery and its lager-beer production. A July/August 1878-era Placer Herald advertisement states that the purchaser of the celebrated Auburn Brewery had made improvements and was prepared to furnish very good lager beer. By 1890 repeated Auburn Journal/Placer Herald advertisements identify J. Weber/Julius Weber as proprietor and continue to advertise lager beer. Exact founding date and full pre-Weber ownership chronology remain UNKNOWN.
