At 28-34 Alfred Street East (Brantford Public Library record title). A collectors' catalogue dates the company 1889-1944; a search snippet of the library's record speaks of a Strathroy origin in 1859 and a move to Alfred Street in 1888 by the brothers Cyrus, Oscar and Arthur Bixel — unverified until the record is read. The record carries 1889.

    Taylor buys; the brewery closes

"Bixel Brewery (acquired 1944)" (Canadian Breweries account); "1944 Closed" (collectors' catalogue). The same snippet has Frederick and Matthew Bixel running it from August 1929 to 7 March 1944 — unverified.

  3. 1978
    The building burns

"A fire on 14-December-1978 damaged the business of Brant Screencraft, located at 1 Alfred Street, in the former Bixel Brewery building." Another account, unverified, has the building — then Taggart Transport's — destroyed by fire on 12 March 1979. Both kept. What stands there now: UNKNOWN.
