Tally's Take

Why this matters

Type: The brewery began as 'zur Linde' under Johann Conrad Ziegler's family in 1803/04. Kaspar Horber acquired it in 1845 and renamed it Brauerei Horber. His son Kaspar Horber-Ottiker inherited it in 1879; after his 1897 death the heirs sold it to Aktien-Brauerei Zürich in 1898, which immediately closed the brewery.. Status: CLOSED — SOLD TO AKTIEN-BRAUEREI ZÜRICH AND SHUT 1898. Ownership as recorded: ZIEGLER → HORBER FAMILY → AKTIEN-BRAUEREI ZÜRICH VERIFIED. Former brewing rooms were converted to wood and coal storage after closure. [Switzerland Pass 24]
