Brauerei Locher Oberegg
Oberegg, Switzerland
Tally's Take
Why this matters
Type: Official Oberegg district history says Johann Joseph Locher began brewing in 1852. The Oberegg brewery remained a separate family company from the Appenzell Locher brewery, was sold to Calanda Bräu AG in 1972, later used as storage, dissolved in 1992 and demolished in 1994.. Status: CLOSED — SOLD TO CALANDA 1972; LOCAL BREWING ENDED. Ownership as recorded: LOCHER FAMILY → CALANDA VERIFIED. Critically distinct from current Brauerei Locher AG in Appenzell. Johann Christoph Locher founded the Appenzell lineage in 1886 but the two firms remained separate. [Switzerland Pass 24]
