[Canada Pass 24] CHECKED 2026-09-24: no source shows a Dawes brewery in Halifax. Dawes & Co advertise as "BREWERS AND MALTSTERS, LACHINE, P.Q." in the same 1889-90 Prince Edward Island directory that carries the Halifax brewers — the Montreal firm selling into the Maritimes, which may be how a 'Halifax operation' entered the record. An agency is not a brewery (rule 6); unless a Halifax plant is evidenced this record should be reviewed for withdrawal. Left as UNKNOWN.
