Why this matters
Zimbabwe's brewer, and the reason the country's beer map looks nothing like Europe's. Delta makes Castle Lager, Carling Black Label and Zambezi Lager — and Chibuku, the commercial opaque sorghum beer, which it produces at fourteen separate breweries across the country. Not fourteen for scale. Fourteen because Chibuku barely keeps: it is sold while still fermenting, and a beer that is still working cannot be shipped far or stored long, so it has to be brewed close to whoever is going to drink it. Lager centralised brewing everywhere it went. Sorghum beer does the opposite, and Zimbabwe is what that looks like industrially. The founding year is not established here and is left unknown.
