Manitoba's first brewpub, at the Niakwa Hotel in 1984 — and then nothing for fifteen years. Winnipeg Free Press correspondence from a Manitoba brewpub developer identifies it, and a separate 2013 interview on the province's beer history independently puts the first brewpub at 1984 and states that no further local attempt followed until 1999. Being first turns out not to be the same as being early enough. Its closing date is not recorded.
