H. Mueller & Bro.
Santa Barbara, California, USA
Tally's Take
Why this matters
California Pass 187. A contemporary national brewer list published in 1880 records 'Mueller, H. & Bro.' under Santa Barbara with 110 barrels sold in 1878 and 144 barrels in 1879, directly proving commercial beer production. Later Santa Barbara local-history reporting identifies brewer Herrmann Rudolph Muller and describes the Muller enterprise continuing in the city. Exact brewery trade name, site address, founding year, closure year and full family partnership chronology remain UNKNOWN rather than inferred.
