Tally's Take

Why this matters

A textbook case of brand, brewer and farm being three different things. The barley is Clarkson's, the brewery is Cotswold Brewing Company in Bourton-on-the-Water, and the name on the can is neither. Television built the demand faster than any brewery could have — which is worth understanding rather than sneering at, because the beer sells on a genuinely short supply chain from one farm's field.

Hawkstone Lager

Year-Round

Premium Lager

ABV4.8%

Brewed with barley grown at Diddly Squat Farm. The supply chain runs from one field in Oxfordshire to a brewery in Bourton-on-the-Water, which is genuinely short by any commercial standard.

Hawkstone IPA

Year-Round

English IPA

ABV4.8%

The range's answer to the lager, and the beer that had to prove Hawkstone was a brewery rather than a piece of merchandise.

Hawkstone Cider

Year-Round

Cider

ABV4.5%

Cider sits oddly in a beer archive, and it belongs here for the same reason the lager does — it comes off the same farm and is sold under the same name.
