Herchmer & Batkin Brewery

Tally's Take
Why this matters
Where the Redwood site begins. The Seven Oaks House Museum and the Manitoba Historical Society identify Herchmer & Batkin as the brewery standing at Redwood before 1877 — the idle one Edward Drewry bought that year and restarted. The founding year is unknown and stays unknown: the sources establish only that it opened at some point before 1877, and a plausible guess written down here would be quoted back as fact within a year. Everything that followed on that corner, through Drewry, Carling, Carling-O'Keefe and Molson to the 1999 demolition, started with this.
