Little Star Brewing Company

Birmingham, Alabama, USA

Tally's Take

Why this matters

It bought the former Birmingham Brewing facility on Third Avenue around 1998 and ran it as a contract operation, producing Vulcan beer and acquiring the Mad Monk brands in spring 1999. By 2000 a Birmingham News report has it being sold, with production moving to South Carolina. That is the whole modern arc compressed into one record: a brewery becomes a facility, the facility becomes a contract line, the brands scatter, and the beer ends up being made in another state.
