Year-RoundPale Lager
Heineken opened a brewery in Dutch colonial Surabaya in 1929 to brew something it just called Java Bier. Indonesia nationalized the plant in 1957, and the beer kept being brewed under a new name — Bir Bintang, 'Star Beer.' It never stopped tasting like Heineken, because structurally, it still is.
