California Pass 187. KCRA's 2021 retrospective, based on interviews with founder Dan Ayala and local participants, says Ayala founded and built Murphys Creek Brewing Company in the early 1990s, that it produced a locally popular hometown beer, and that the business shut down after only three years because production/distribution financing could not scale. The equipment was sold roughly 25 years before the 2021 story. Exact opening and closure years remain UNKNOWN rather than reverse-calculated.
