Why this matters
Canada's northernmost commercial brewery, and the only one in a territory covering a fifth of the country. There is no road to Iqaluit. Every sack of malt, every keg gasket and every replacement part comes in on the annual summer sealift during the brief ice-free window, or by air at a price that makes you think twice. Incorporated in 2014, pouring since August 2018, and they still found the margin to install carbon dioxide capture and reuse. The beers are named in Inuktitut and for the floe edge and old Frobisher Bay, and the taproom works as the town's living room — board games, open mic, bring your own supper. Remoteness is not a marketing angle here. It is the entire operating condition.
