Tally's Take
Why this matters
Abraxas put chilli and cinnamon in a stout years before pastry stout was a category anyone admitted to. St. Louis is Anheuser-Busch's town, which makes running a barrel-led artisan brewery there a deliberately awkward position to take.

Mexican chocolate, ancho chilli, cinnamon and vanilla, brewed before pastry stout was a category anybody would admit to. Chilli in beer usually fails; this is the version that worked.

LimitedBarrel-Aged Imperial Stout
Aged in Rittenhouse rye barrels and named the French for mother. Rye barrels bring pepper and spice where bourbon brings sweetness.
