Timeline
- 1905The Biners buy a six-year-old brewery
In October 1905 Theophil Biner "purchased the six year old Phoenix Brewery" — so founded about 1899, the record's year; his sons Albert and Dan ran it, and Billy Biner, out of brewing school in 1912, became brewmaster and drew the labels. The founders of 1899: UNKNOWN (a summary named the Muellers; unconfirmed).
- 1919The mines fail; the brewery goes to Mexico
The Phoenix mine "produced 13,678,901 tons of ore before operations ceased on June 14, 1919"; the brewery "folded because the mines failed and the brewery machinery was moved lock, stock and barrel to Mexicali, Mexico", Albert Biner helping start a brewery there in 1923. The record's 1921 end and this account's 'after 1919' are both kept; the town was later mined away.
