Revelstoke Brewery (Oliver Allen, 1891–1900)

Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada · Est. 1891

01

Tally's Take

Why this matters

Oliver Allen opened in May 1891, and by 1894 the Revelstoke Museum records the brewery being described as the largest of its kind in the Kootenays — making ales, porter and lager, all three, in a railway town in the mountains. It ran to 1900. Allen was not finished with the name: he brought the Revelstoke Brewery back in 1903 with a partner, and that second attempt is held here as its own record rather than as a continuation of this one.
