What we have established
Status: CLOSED. Historical Sitka brewery accepted from federal 1894-1895 liquor/brewery-permit correspondence. Robert Witz personally acknowledged federal restrictions in Sitka in August 1894 after correspondence asking whether he manufactured or sold beer; Governor James Sheakley stated in April 1895 that the Sitka brewery permit was the only such permit then operating in the Territory. Exact brewery trade name, site, founding/closure and corporate form remain UNKNOWN; specialist references to 'Alaskan Brewery & Louvre Saloon' are not canonized without period proof. [Alaska Pass 20]
