Why this matters
California Pass 187. A March 1881 San Luis Obispo Tribune item explicitly says 'The Tivoli Brewery formerly the San Luis Brewery' had been refitted and put in operation by Messrs. Echlin & Fink and was producing excellent beer. By 1883 newspaper advertisements state that experienced brewer Michel Wurch had leased the Tivoli Brewery and was turning out first-class beer. The two names are therefore preserved as one brewery lineage rather than counted twice. Exact original opening and final closure remain UNKNOWN.
