Why this matters
The modern attempt to bring Berliner Weisse back, and it lasted nine years. Ulrike Genz founded Schneeeule in 2016 with Andreas Bogk, specialising in the city's own nearly-vanished style. Genz announced closure effective 30 September 2025 under economic pressure. In 2026 Schneeeule announced a new partner and an intended revival — the archive records the closure as fact and the revival as announced, because no resumed production site has been established. Count the Berliner Weisse breweries here: four, three of them gone before 1970, and the fourth a revival that has now closed too.
