Ownership as recorded: Operator chronology supported by Van Wieren as summarized in Bottle Research Group work and an 1882 New Mexico Gazetteer listing May & Andrews as Silver City brewers.. Canonicalized as one early brewery lineage rather than separate Thomas Smith and John L. May brewery entities. Same-business continuity within 1874–1882 is accepted provisionally; relationship to the later 1882–1890 brewery remains unproven. [New Mexico Pass 19]
