Tally's Take
Why this matters
Goldstar is a dark lager that stayed dark while the rest of the world went pale — and still leads its home market.

Goldstar
Year-RoundPale Lager
Brewmaster Menachem Berliner made Israel's first draft beer in 1950, originally as a sub-brand called 'Goldstar Eagle.' Its six-pointed star logo gets read as a national or religious symbol by almost everyone who sees it, but the company traces it back to the emblem of medieval European brewers' guilds — a coincidence of geometry, not intention.
