Milwaukee / Fluhrer / Union Brewery lineage (Trail)
Trail, British Columbia, Canada · Est. 1897
Tally's Take
Why this matters
One Trail brewery through several names — Milwaukee, then Fluhrer, then Union — running from 1897 to 1918, with the line carried through Prohibition to 1924. That is three years longer than the Nanaimo and Revelstoke lines managed, and makes it the last of the pre-Prohibition Kootenay brewing companies to formally close. The first name is borrowed from a brewing city two thousand miles away, which is what a Canadian brewery called itself when it wanted you to know it made lager.
