- 1984Jim Brickman's Brick Brewing
"Founded in 1984, Waterloo Brewing Ltd. was the first craft brewery to start up in Ontario and is credited with pioneering the present-day craft brewing renaissance in Canada" (the company's release) — Brick Brewing, in an old Kitchener furniture factory; Brickman resigned in 2008 (reported); renamed Waterloo Brewing Ltd. in 2019.
