Type: Historical brewery / malting origin. Ownership as recorded: HISTORICAL_FAMILY_TO_CORPORATE / FOUNDING_CONFLICT. WHS traces William Rahr to Manitowoc in 1847 and says he established Eagle Brewery; an 1881 biographical source says he came in 1849, while the historical synthesis says construction began almost immediately after arrival and production was likely 1848. Preserve 1847/1849 rather than forcing one date. [Wisconsin Pass 17]
