Summary
The 1870 Western Shore Gazetteer describes Yolo Brewery in Woodland and identifies the town as having two large breweries; later Woodland/California historical references preserve the Yolo Brewery name through the late 19th and early 20th centuries. City of Woodland historical social material identifies the brewery as founded in 1861 and says Prohibition ended its beer production in 1918; local Woodland history records the brewery building burning in 1934. Because the founding year is currently best preserved in municipal/local-history sources rather than a retrieved 1861 primary notice, 1861 is retained with explicit source qualification.
