Tally's Take

Why this matters

Opened in 2016 by Alex Horner and childhood friends, and one of the Barley Belt's fastest risers at around 3,000 hectolitres a year. Then on 30 January 2020 Labatt bought it, and Calgary's craft scene split — the sale set off a fight over whether a Labatt-owned brewery could still call itself part of the Barley Belt at all. Nothing about the beer changed. Everything about what the beer meant did.
