The character
Alberta's oldest surviving craft brewery is here — Alley Kat, opened 1995, two decades before the province had a scene to belong to and still independently owned. Around it Edmonton built something more experimental than Calgary: barrel-houses and wild ale cellars, arcade taprooms, brewpubs with rooftops in a city that takes its eight warm weeks seriously.
