Tally's take
The character
The densest brewing in the province, most of it packed into a few industrial blocks southeast of downtown that everyone calls the Barley Belt. It exists because two homebrewers in a backyard shed got Alberta's minimum-production law repealed in December 2013 — before that, a brewery this size was effectively illegal here. The name itself became contested ground when Labatt bought Banded Peak in 2020 and the rest of the Belt had to decide what the word still meant.

Counts here are the length of this list, not an estimate. For why a brewery you know might be missing — closures, shared roofs, contract brands, ownership exclusions — see how we count.
