The character

Resource country — pulp mills, hydro dams and gold mines — with a brewing culture that grew out of company towns rather than tourism. Lac-Saint-Jean puts blueberries in the stout because the region is built on them. Shawinigan produced Quebec's most painful acquisition story. And in Abitibi the drive between two breweries can take longer than Montreal to Boston.
