Every dated change of control in the archive since 2015, year by year, newest first — 79 of them, 26 verified, 28still unconfirmed and shown as such. Who bought, sold, merged, took over or succeeded which brewery, with the grade and the sources behind each line. The page rewrites itself from the ownership layer on every build, so this year's section is always the one in progress.

How to read it

The big lines are the ones you know from the news, with the document under them: Carlsberg's Baltika sold to VG Invest on 6 February 2025; Sapporo Holdings absorbed into Sapporo Breweries Ltd. on 1 July 2026; Central City, renamed Homefield, to Mark Anthony Group in February 2025; Revolver to Tilray in September 2024. The small lines are the archive's real work — a Kamloops taproom succeeded by another, a farm brewery sold to a couple, three buyers of one Swedish brewery named separately because a source named them separately.

Read the status before the name. VERIFIED has a source that establishes the change. PARTIAL RESOLUTION has evidence of a change and an open question — the date, the buyer's legal identity, whether assets or the company moved. UNCONFIRMED is a researcher's lead the archive has not been able to source; it is printed because hiding a question is worse than labelling one. And read the year count as attention: British Columbia's 2025 pass dated a run of small sales that no other province has yet been asked about, which is why 2024 and 2025 lean west.

No dated change of control recorded for 2015. That is a statement about the passes, not the trade.

What this ledger cannot tell you

  • The price. A sale is recorded as a dated fact, never as a valuation; where a source gave a figure it is on the record page, and nowhere is it a number the archive asserts.
  • Assets or entity. Tilray bought BrewDog's assets out of administration, which is not the same as buying BrewDog; the archive marks the rung unresolved rather than drawing it. Several PARTIAL rows are open on exactly this.
  • The years nobody asked. 79 changes since 2015 across an archive of 10,721 breweries is a floor; the passes that date ownership have reached a handful of provinces and states.

Know a brewery that changed hands, with the document that says so? Tell the archive. The passport's promise — to tell you when a brewery you drank is sold — is only as good as this page.

Method: rows are ownership events whose mechanism is a change of control (acquired, sold, merged, transferred, control taken, reorganised, succeeded) with a recorded start date; status, grade and source counts are the event's own. Regenerates with every build.
